The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 876 offenses for the week of May 5-11, 2025, up 11% from the 4-week average of 791 and down 13% from the same week a year earlier (1,005).

Above their recent range (more than two standard deviations over the prior eight weeks): aggravated assault, 74 against a 4-week average of 50; burglary, 54 against a 4-week average of 36.

Tuesday had the most offenses (141). The busiest part of the day was afternoon (noon-6 p.m.) (257).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 90 (up 32% from the 4-week average); motor vehicle theft was 92 (up 2%).
