The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 851 offenses for the week of April 28 to May 4, 2025, up 11% from the 4-week average of 769 and down 4% from the same week a year earlier (888).

Above their recent range (more than two standard deviations over the prior eight weeks): simple assault, 127 against a 4-week average of 98.5; fraud, 42 against a 4-week average of 33.3.

Wednesday had the most offenses (141). The busiest part of the day was afternoon (noon-6 p.m.) (251).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 80 (up 28% from the 4-week average); motor vehicle theft was 104 (up 18%).
