Offenses recorded by the Minneapolis Police Department from 2019 to today, grouped in plain language: assault, robbery, burglary, theft, homicide and more. 2019 is the last full year before COVID. Counts are offenses as MPD counts them (a case with two victims is two offenses).
Through Oct 1, 2026, MPD has recorded 35,099 offenses of every kind since Jan 1: up 4% from 2025, and up 8% from 2019.

Source: Minneapolis Police Department open data (City of Minneapolis "Crime_Data"), imported daily and counted by the date the offense occurred. The current year runs through the last date MPD has published, and every comparison uses the same calendar window. Crimes are reported crimes only, and MPD can reclassify an offense after the fact. Shots-fired calls, gunshot wound victims and subset rows (domestic aggravated assault, carjacking) are shown apart from the crime total so nothing is counted twice. 2019 is the first year of MPD's current records feed and its early months run low.
