The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 814 offenses for the week of April 7-13, 2025, up 8% from the 4-week average of 751 and up 1% from the same week a year earlier (804).

Above their recent range (more than two standard deviations over the prior eight weeks): simple assault, 104 against a 4-week average of 93; shoplifting, 24 against a 4-week average of 13.8.

Thursday had the most offenses (146). The busiest part of the day was afternoon (noon-6 p.m.) (251).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 59 (down 6% from the 4-week average); motor vehicle theft was 110 (up 19%).
