The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 748 offenses for the week of April 14-20, 2025, down 3% from the 4-week average of 769 and down 17% from the same week a year earlier (898).
Above their recent range (more than two standard deviations over the prior eight weeks): simple assault, 111 against a 4-week average of 97.8; weapon law violations, 29 against a 4-week average of 17; fraud, 37 against a 4-week average of 28.8.
Friday had the most offenses (135). The busiest part of the day was morning (6 a.m.-noon) (228).
Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 62 (up 1% from the 4-week average); motor vehicle theft was 74 (down 22%).
