The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 1,044 offenses for the week of July 10-16, 2023, up 10% from the 4-week average of 952 and flat from the same week a year earlier (1,046).
Above their recent range (more than two standard deviations over the prior eight weeks): motor vehicle theft, 168 against a 4-week average of 121; other theft, 166 against a 4-week average of 123.5; theft from motor vehicle, 84 against a 4-week average of 70.5.
Monday had the most offenses (161). The busiest part of the day was afternoon (noon-6 p.m.) (317).
Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 84 (up 19% from the 4-week average); motor vehicle theft was 168 (up 39%).
