The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 988 offenses for the week of July 3-9, 2023, up 5% from the 4-week average of 939 and down 1% from the same week a year earlier (994).

Above their recent range (more than two standard deviations over the prior eight weeks): burglary, 90 against a 4-week average of 56.5.

Tuesday had the most offenses (185). The busiest part of the day was evening (6 p.m.-midnight) (314).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 60 (down 18% from the 4-week average); motor vehicle theft was 121 (up 2%).
