The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 999 offenses for the week of July 17-23, 2023, up 1% from the 4-week average of 993 and down 7% from the same week a year earlier (1,075).

Above their recent range (more than two standard deviations over the prior eight weeks): theft from motor vehicle, 88 against a 4-week average of 72.

Thursday had the most offenses (163). The busiest part of the day was afternoon (noon-6 p.m.) (320).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 88 (up 22% from the 4-week average); motor vehicle theft was 146 (up 9%).
