The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 1,037 offenses for the week of May 8-14, 2023, up 11% from the 4-week average of 932 and up 14% from the same week a year earlier (910).

Above their recent range (more than two standard deviations over the prior eight weeks): property damage / vandalism, 232 against a 4-week average of 123.3; robbery, 39 against a 4-week average of 30.3.

Saturday had the most offenses (234). The busiest part of the day was afternoon (noon-6 p.m.) (379).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 89 (up 12% from the 4-week average); motor vehicle theft was 177 (up 2%).
