The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 911 offenses for the week of April 24-30, 2023, flat from the 4-week average of 906 and up 6% from the same week a year earlier (855).

Above their recent range (more than two standard deviations over the prior eight weeks): aggravated assault, 85 against a 4-week average of 53.5; shoplifting, 21 against a 4-week average of 8.5.

Sunday had the most offenses (174). The busiest part of the day was afternoon (noon-6 p.m.) (298).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 71 (down 2% from the 4-week average); motor vehicle theft was 167 (down 15%).
