The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 906 offenses for the week of April 17-23, 2023, flat from the 4-week average of 909 and up 10% from the same week a year earlier (823).

Above their recent range (more than two standard deviations over the prior eight weeks): theft from motor vehicle, 101 against a 4-week average of 66.3; robbery, 31 against a 4-week average of 21.3; other offenses, 23 against a 4-week average of 13.8.

Tuesday had the most offenses (160). The busiest part of the day was afternoon (noon-6 p.m.) (302).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 101 (up 52% from the 4-week average); motor vehicle theft was 180 (down 11%).
