The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 1,031 offenses for the week of October 17-23, 2022, up 10% from the 4-week average of 941 and up 35% from the same week a year earlier (764).

Above their recent range (more than two standard deviations over the prior eight weeks): motor vehicle theft, 208 against a 4-week average of 133.5; property damage / vandalism, 173 against a 4-week average of 128.5.

Saturday had the most offenses (173). The busiest part of the day was afternoon (noon-6 p.m.) (324).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 91 (up 6% from the 4-week average); motor vehicle theft was 208 (up 56%).
