The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 1,085 offenses for the week of October 24-30, 2022, up 15% from the 4-week average of 946 and up 36% from the same week a year earlier (800).

Above their recent range (more than two standard deviations over the prior eight weeks): motor vehicle theft, 208 against a 4-week average of 150.3; simple assault, 128 against a 4-week average of 92; intimidation, 54 against a 4-week average of 39.8.

Friday had the most offenses (186). The busiest part of the day was afternoon (noon-6 p.m.) (370).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 78 (down 6% from the 4-week average); motor vehicle theft was 208 (up 38%).
