The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 811 offenses for the week of February 16-22, 2026, up 2% from the 4-week average of 796 and up 15% from the same week a year earlier (706).

Above their recent range (more than two standard deviations over the prior eight weeks): fraud, 45 against a 4-week average of 31.5; shoplifting, 26 against a 4-week average of 14.5.

Tuesday had the most offenses (138). The busiest part of the day was morning (6 a.m.-noon) (251).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 78 (up 16% from the 4-week average); motor vehicle theft was 117 (down 16%).
