The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 978 offenses for the week of August 25-31, 2025, down 8% from the 4-week average of 1,060 and down 4% from the same week a year earlier (1,022).

Above their recent range (more than two standard deviations over the prior eight weeks): aggravated assault, 107 against a 4-week average of 61.3; shoplifting, 35 against a 4-week average of 24.8.

Wednesday had the most offenses (160). The busiest part of the day was evening (6 p.m.-midnight) (281).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 70 (down 31% from the 4-week average); motor vehicle theft was 92 (down 26%).
