The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 1,096 offenses for the week of August 18-24, 2025, up 6% from the 4-week average of 1,032 and up 7% from the same week a year earlier (1,027).

Above their recent range (more than two standard deviations over the prior eight weeks): other theft, 173 against a 4-week average of 135.5; simple assault, 127 against a 4-week average of 106.5; burglary, 68 against a 4-week average of 52.3.

Tuesday had the most offenses (190). The busiest part of the day was evening (6 p.m.-midnight) (319).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 105 (up 11% from the 4-week average); motor vehicle theft was 114 (down 8%).
