The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 1,027 offenses for the week of August 19-25, 2024, up 1% from the 4-week average of 1,021 and up 3% from the same week a year earlier (995).

Above their recent range (more than two standard deviations over the prior eight weeks): sex offenses, 27 against a 4-week average of 18.3.

Wednesday had the most offenses (161). The busiest part of the day was afternoon (noon-6 p.m.) (323).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 116 (up 15% from the 4-week average); motor vehicle theft was 124 (down 18%).
