The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 948 offenses for the week of July 29 to August 4, 2024, down 8% from the 4-week average of 1,029 and flat from the same week a year earlier (943).

Above their recent range (more than two standard deviations over the prior eight weeks): drug offenses, 39 against a 4-week average of 16.8; weapon law violations, 39 against a 4-week average of 26.8.

Monday had the most offenses (153). The busiest part of the day was evening (6 p.m.-midnight) (276).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 77 (down 20% from the 4-week average); motor vehicle theft was 126 (down 13%).
