The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 1,105 offenses for the week of July 22-28, 2024, up 9% from the 4-week average of 1,013 and up 6% from the same week a year earlier (1,044).

Above their recent range (more than two standard deviations over the prior eight weeks): theft from motor vehicle, 123 against a 4-week average of 91.8; burglary, 72 against a 4-week average of 55.3; intimidation, 63 against a 4-week average of 51.

Monday had the most offenses (176). The busiest part of the day was afternoon (noon-6 p.m.) (326).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 123 (up 34% from the 4-week average); motor vehicle theft was 153 (up 5%).
