The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 983 offenses for the week of June 3-9, 2024, up 1% from the 4-week average of 973 and up 5% from the same week a year earlier (936).

Above their recent range (more than two standard deviations over the prior eight weeks): theft from motor vehicle, 116 against a 4-week average of 85; robbery, 52 against a 4-week average of 36; burglary, 56 against a 4-week average of 47.

Friday had the most offenses (169). The busiest part of the day was afternoon (noon-6 p.m.) (305).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 116 (up 36% from the 4-week average); motor vehicle theft was 138 (down 12%).
