The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 1,061 offenses for the week of May 27 to June 2, 2024, up 14% from the 4-week average of 930 and up 13% from the same week a year earlier (939).

Above their recent range (more than two standard deviations over the prior eight weeks): property damage / vandalism, 256 against a 4-week average of 135.3; burglary, 51 against a 4-week average of 43.8; other offenses, 20 against a 4-week average of 14.5.

Saturday had the most offenses (201). The busiest part of the day was afternoon (noon-6 p.m.) (328).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 94 (up 23% from the 4-week average); motor vehicle theft was 149 (down 2%).
