The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 1,005 offenses for the week of May 6-12, 2024, up 15% from the 4-week average of 875 and down 3% from the same week a year earlier (1,037).

Above their recent range (more than two standard deviations over the prior eight weeks): aggravated assault, 93 against a 4-week average of 59; fraud, 66 against a 4-week average of 38.5; burglary, 48 against a 4-week average of 38.3.

Wednesday had the most offenses (153). The busiest part of the day was afternoon (noon-6 p.m.) (366).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 91 (up 23% from the 4-week average); motor vehicle theft was 161 (up 23%).
