The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 804 offenses for the week of April 8-14, 2024, up 12% from the 4-week average of 720 and down 11% from the same week a year earlier (904).

Above their recent range (more than two standard deviations over the prior eight weeks): aggravated assault, 75 against a 4-week average of 43.8; weapon law violations, 37 against a 4-week average of 20.3; theft from motor vehicle, 63 against a 4-week average of 56.8.

Sunday had the most offenses (144). The busiest part of the day was afternoon (noon-6 p.m.) (255).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 63 (up 11% from the 4-week average); motor vehicle theft was 86 (down 12%).
