The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 828 offenses for the week of February 26 to March 3, 2024, up 3% from the 4-week average of 804 and down 9% from the same week a year earlier (912).

Above their recent range (more than two standard deviations over the prior eight weeks): other theft, 130 against a 4-week average of 104; weapon law violations, 32 against a 4-week average of 21.

Friday had the most offenses (165). The busiest part of the day was morning (6 a.m.-noon) (245).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 52 (down 14% from the 4-week average); motor vehicle theft was 109 (down 1%).
