The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 904 offenses for the week of January 22-28, 2024, up 21% from the 4-week average of 747 and up 31% from the same week a year earlier (691).

Above their recent range (more than two standard deviations over the prior eight weeks): motor vehicle theft, 152 against a 4-week average of 121; robbery, 47 against a 4-week average of 26; burglary, 55 against a 4-week average of 35.

Saturday had the most offenses (152). The busiest part of the day was afternoon (noon-6 p.m.) (272).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 70 (up 48% from the 4-week average); motor vehicle theft was 152 (up 26%).
