The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 943 offenses for the week of October 30 to November 5, 2023, up 7% from the 4-week average of 880 and down 4% from the same week a year earlier (980).

Above their recent range (more than two standard deviations over the prior eight weeks): fraud, 58 against a 4-week average of 35; weapon law violations, 30 against a 4-week average of 21.5.

Thursday had the most offenses (155). The busiest part of the day was morning (6 a.m.-noon) (279).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 81 (down 3% from the 4-week average); motor vehicle theft was 142 (up 12%).
