The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 1,045 offenses for the week of August 14-20, 2023, up 4% from the 4-week average of 1,010 and up 3% from the same week a year earlier (1,012).

Above their recent range (more than two standard deviations over the prior eight weeks): vehicle parts theft, 53 against a 4-week average of 32.5.

Sunday had the most offenses (165). The busiest part of the day was afternoon (noon-6 p.m.) (346).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 93 (up 13% from the 4-week average); motor vehicle theft was 158 (up 1%).
