The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 3,884 offenses in April 2026, up 4% from March 2026 (3,729) and up 16% from April 2025 (3,364).

The largest increase from a year earlier was property damage / vandalism (665 against 539, up 23%), and the largest decrease was robbery (53 against 65, down 18%).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 341 (up 24% from a year earlier); motor vehicle theft was 447 (up 14%).

MPD recorded 6 homicide offenses in April 2026, against 11 in April 2025.

By neighborhood, compared with April 2025, offenses were up the most: Marcy Holmes (71 to 122), North Loop (74 to 118), Whittier (158 to 198); down the most: Downtown West (227 to 205), Hawthorne (76 to 56), Lind - Bohanon (47 to 29).
