The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 3,729 offenses in March 2026, up 12% from February 2026 (3,333) and up 16% from March 2025 (3,219).

The largest increase from a year earlier was motor vehicle theft (496 against 404, up 23%), and the largest decrease was robbery (55 against 75, down 27%).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 300 (up 10% from a year earlier); motor vehicle theft was 496 (up 23%).

MPD recorded 4 homicide offenses in March 2026, against 1 in March 2025.

By neighborhood, compared with March 2025, offenses were up the most: Seward (54 to 109), Marcy Holmes (75 to 122), Longfellow (75 to 120); down the most: Willard - Hay (96 to 62), Elliot Park (100 to 78), Hawthorne (89 to 67).
