The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 3,333 offenses in February 2026, down 0% from January 2026 (3,341) and up 16% from February 2025 (2,863).

The largest increase from a year earlier was motor vehicle theft (524 against 385, up 36%), and the largest decrease was burglary (127 against 139, down 9%).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 291 (up 20% from a year earlier); motor vehicle theft was 524 (up 36%).

MPD recorded 4 homicide offenses in February 2026, against 3 in February 2025.

By neighborhood, compared with February 2025, offenses were up the most: Marcy Holmes (85 to 124), Whittier (140 to 174), Harrison (24 to 55); down the most: Hiawatha (62 to 37), Hawthorne (83 to 60), Armatage (28 to 9).
