The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 3,364 offenses in April 2025, up 4% from March 2025 (3,219) and down 7% from April 2024 (3,630).

The largest increase from a year earlier was simple assault (437 against 353, up 24%), and the largest decrease was motor vehicle theft (394 against 566, down 30%).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 276 (down 12% from a year earlier); motor vehicle theft was 394 (down 30%).

MPD recorded 11 homicide offenses in April 2025, against 6 in April 2024.

By neighborhood, compared with April 2024, offenses were up the most: Elliot Park (76 to 113), Near - North (73 to 100), Downtown West (201 to 227); down the most: Whittier (242 to 158), King Field (61 to 22), Marcy Holmes (108 to 71).
