The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 3,757 offenses in November 2023, down 5% from October 2023 (3,951) and up 4% from November 2022 (3,625).

The largest increase from a year earlier was other theft (497 against 405, up 23%), and the largest decrease was motor vehicle theft (521 against 680, down 23%).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 347 (up 24% from a year earlier); motor vehicle theft was 521 (down 23%).

MPD recorded 10 homicide offenses in November 2023, against 3 in November 2022.

By neighborhood, compared with November 2022, offenses were up the most: Marcy Holmes (74 to 119), Lyndale (62 to 98), Loring Park (70 to 105); down the most: Cedar Riverside (81 to 53), Steven's Square - Loring Heights (73 to 51), Hawthorne (106 to 85).
