The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 4,333 offenses in October 2022, up 3% from September 2022 (4,189) and up 14% from October 2021 (3,787).

The largest increase from a year earlier was motor vehicle theft (743 against 372, up 100%), and the largest decrease was robbery (153 against 293, down 48%).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 359 (up 7% from a year earlier); motor vehicle theft was 743 (up 100%).

MPD recorded 5 homicide offenses in October 2022, against 7 in October 2021.

By neighborhood, compared with October 2021, offenses were up the most: Whittier (188 to 246), Elliot Park (79 to 122), Jordan (100 to 143); down the most: Downtown West (255 to 219), Loring Park (119 to 89), Holland (41 to 22).
