The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 4,732 offenses in July 2022, up 6% from June 2022 (4,442) and up 23% from July 2021 (3,851).

The largest increase from a year earlier was motor vehicle theft (581 against 387, up 50%), and the largest decrease was intimidation (165 against 192, down 14%).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 410 (up 41% from a year earlier); motor vehicle theft was 581 (up 50%).

MPD recorded 9 homicide offenses in July 2022, against 8 in July 2021.

By neighborhood, compared with July 2021, offenses were up the most: Downtown West (299 to 375), Whittier (174 to 239), Powderhorn Park (69 to 124); down the most: Jordan (142 to 118), Corcoran (53 to 31), Folwell (104 to 84).
