The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 3,344 offenses in March 2022, up 10% from February 2022 (3,028) and up 19% from March 2021 (2,814).

The largest increase from a year earlier was vehicle parts theft (389 against 197, up 98%), and the largest decrease was fraud (150 against 232, down 35%).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 220 (up 13% from a year earlier); motor vehicle theft was 342 (up 30%).

MPD recorded 6 homicide offenses in March 2022, against 8 in March 2021.

By neighborhood, compared with March 2021, offenses were up the most: Downtown West (147 to 258), Midtown Phillips (40 to 75), Longfellow (40 to 74); down the most: Marcy Holmes (131 to 97), Windom (47 to 17), Holland (39 to 21).
