The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 3,787 offenses in October 2021, down 1% from September 2021 (3,833) and down 8% from October 2020 (4,104).

The largest increase from a year earlier was robbery (293 against 224, up 31%), and the largest decrease was theft from motor vehicle (336 against 464, down 28%).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 336 (down 28% from a year earlier); motor vehicle theft was 372 (up 8%).

MPD recorded 7 homicide offenses in October 2021, against 8 in October 2020.

By neighborhood, compared with October 2020, offenses were up the most: North Loop (95 to 123), Loring Park (96 to 119), Downtown West (238 to 255); down the most: Marcy Holmes (214 to 135), Prospect Park - East River Road (114 to 62), Jordan (131 to 100).
