The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 3,445 offenses in June 2020, down 12% from May 2020 (3,925) and down 16% from June 2019 (4,082).

The largest increase from a year earlier was vehicle parts theft (113 against 12, up 842%), and the largest decrease was other theft (445 against 798, down 44%).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 236 (down 45% from a year earlier); motor vehicle theft was 314 (up 30%).

MPD recorded 11 homicide offenses in June 2020, against 4 in June 2019.

By neighborhood, compared with June 2019, offenses were up the most: Powderhorn Park (78 to 106), Willard - Hay (83 to 111), Jordan (116 to 139); down the most: Downtown West (454 to 158), Whittier (203 to 124), Elliot Park (105 to 53).
