The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 1,100 offenses for the week of July 27 to August 2, 2026, up 12% from the 4-week average of 983 and up 2% from the same week a year earlier (1,075).

Above their recent range (more than two standard deviations over the prior eight weeks): property damage / vandalism, 235 against a 4-week average of 186; theft from motor vehicle, 112 against a 4-week average of 84.

Friday had the most offenses (171). The busiest part of the day was evening (6 p.m.-midnight) (334).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 112 (up 33% from the 4-week average); motor vehicle theft was 88 (down 7%).
