The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 965 offenses for the week of June 29 to July 5, 2026, up 8% from the 4-week average of 898 and up 14% from the same week a year earlier (843).

Above their recent range (more than two standard deviations over the prior eight weeks): weapon law violations, 34 against a 4-week average of 24.3; sex offenses, 23 against a 4-week average of 17.5.

Tuesday had the most offenses (172). The busiest part of the day was evening (6 p.m.-midnight) (310).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 74 (down 14% from the 4-week average); motor vehicle theft was 67 (down 24%).
