The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 946 offenses for the week of May 11-17, 2026, flat from the 4-week average of 944 and up 10% from the same week a year earlier (860).

Above their recent range (more than two standard deviations over the prior eight weeks): theft from motor vehicle, 106 against a 4-week average of 82.3; fraud, 45 against a 4-week average of 36.5.

Friday had the most offenses (172). The busiest part of the day was afternoon (noon-6 p.m.) (302).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 106 (up 29% from the 4-week average); motor vehicle theft was 120 (up 17%).
