The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 1,017 offenses for the week of April 20-26, 2026, up 16% from the 4-week average of 879 and up 36% from the same week a year earlier (750).

Above their recent range (more than two standard deviations over the prior eight weeks): property damage / vandalism, 207 against a 4-week average of 138.3; other theft, 128 against a 4-week average of 110.5; vehicle parts theft, 34 against a 4-week average of 25.5.

Saturday had the most offenses (190). The busiest part of the day was evening (6 p.m.-midnight) (307).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 84 (up 11% from the 4-week average); motor vehicle theft was 114 (up 8%).
