The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 873 offenses for the week of March 30 to April 5, 2026, up 5% from the 4-week average of 829 and up 14% from the same week a year earlier (765).

Above their recent range (more than two standard deviations over the prior eight weeks): theft from motor vehicle, 90 against a 4-week average of 66.5.

Monday had the most offenses (148). The busiest part of the day was afternoon (noon-6 p.m.) (260).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 90 (up 35% from the 4-week average); motor vehicle theft was 117 (up 10%).
