The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 821 offenses for the week of March 9-15, 2026, down 2% from the 4-week average of 838 and up 10% from the same week a year earlier (744).

Above their recent range (more than two standard deviations over the prior eight weeks): simple assault, 109 against a 4-week average of 87; other offenses, 24 against a 4-week average of 14.8.

Thursday had the most offenses (163). The busiest part of the day was afternoon (noon-6 p.m.) (260).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 69 (down 5% from the 4-week average); motor vehicle theft was 122 (down 2%).
