The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 818 offenses for the week of January 26 to February 1, 2026, up 10% from the 4-week average of 743 and flat from the same week a year earlier (820).

Above their recent range (more than two standard deviations over the prior eight weeks): vehicle parts theft, 31 against a 4-week average of 18; burglary, 41 against a 4-week average of 29.8.

Saturday had the most offenses (134). The busiest part of the day was afternoon (noon-6 p.m.) (242).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 75 (up 12% from the 4-week average); motor vehicle theft was 151 (up 34%).
