The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 1,063 offenses for the week of September 29 to October 5, 2025, up 16% from the 4-week average of 920 and flat from the same week a year earlier (1,066).

Above their recent range (more than two standard deviations over the prior eight weeks): simple assault, 144 against a 4-week average of 104; fraud, 55 against a 4-week average of 37.5; sex offenses, 29 against a 4-week average of 12.3.

Friday had the most offenses (172). The busiest part of the day was afternoon (noon-6 p.m.) (330).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 95 (up 16% from the 4-week average); motor vehicle theft was 124 (up 36%).
