The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 868 offenses for the week of September 8-14, 2025, down 12% from the 4-week average of 980 and down 13% from the same week a year earlier (997).

Above their recent range (more than two standard deviations over the prior eight weeks): shoplifting, 43 against a 4-week average of 28.5.

Friday had the most offenses (136). The busiest part of the day was afternoon (noon-6 p.m.) (278).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 63 (down 23% from the 4-week average); motor vehicle theft was 87 (down 11%).
