The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 706 offenses for the week of February 17-23, 2025, down 5% from the 4-week average of 742 and down 14% from the same week a year earlier (816).

Above their recent range (more than two standard deviations over the prior eight weeks): motor vehicle theft, 124 against a 4-week average of 88.3; simple assault, 96 against a 4-week average of 80.3; sex offenses, 21 against a 4-week average of 14.

Saturday had the most offenses (117). The busiest part of the day was morning (6 a.m.-noon) (233).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 57 (down 23% from the 4-week average); motor vehicle theft was 124 (up 40%).
