The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 916 offenses for the week of March 20-26, 2023, up 14% from the 4-week average of 805 and up 33% from the same week a year earlier (690).

Above their recent range (more than two standard deviations over the prior eight weeks): aggravated assault, 67 against a 4-week average of 36.5; shoplifting, 18 against a 4-week average of 5.8; burglary, 55 against a 4-week average of 43.

Monday had the most offenses (180). The busiest part of the day was afternoon (noon-6 p.m.) (326).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 77 (up 37% from the 4-week average); motor vehicle theft was 198 (up 6%).
