The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 815 offenses for the week of August 16-22, 2021, down 8% from the 4-week average of 883 and down 15% from the same week a year earlier (955).

Above their recent range (more than two standard deviations over the prior eight weeks): other theft, 157 against a 4-week average of 137.5.

Saturday had the most offenses (135). The busiest part of the day was afternoon (noon-6 p.m.) (249).

Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 64 (down 12% from the 4-week average); motor vehicle theft was 72 (down 17%).
