The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 737 offenses for the week of April 26 to May 2, 2021, up 14% from the 4-week average of 644 and down 10% from the same week a year earlier (816).
Above their recent range (more than two standard deviations over the prior eight weeks): other theft, 111 against a 4-week average of 77.8; simple assault, 82 against a 4-week average of 53.8; aggravated assault, 73 against a 4-week average of 48.8.
Saturday had the most offenses (126). The busiest part of the day was afternoon (noon-6 p.m.) (253).
Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 53 (up 4% from the 4-week average); motor vehicle theft was 70 (up 28%).
